Being Sustainable is a line of outdoor furniture that is made from durable recycled plastic milk bottles. The company is an arm of Tourism Intelligence International (www.tourism-intelligence.com).In a statement, the company said the furniture is comfortable and stylish with a contemporary Caribbean design, making it perfectly suitable for any setting. "Being Sustainable is a range of intelligent and sustainable solutions for indoor, outdoor, decor and construction needs; products with attitude, elegance and design; products that do not cost the earth," the company said in a statement.

"The furniture line is being marketed under the brand of Being Sustainable, a name chosen to reflect the minimal impact the furniture's manufacturing process and materials have on the environment. The furniture line was born after more than a decade of experience with development and design of outside living and dinning spaces, in some of the harshest of environments (rain forest, sea blast, mould and mildew) and with the view of saving time, inconvenience and maintenance costs in the long-term. This durable, low-maintenance, yet stylish outdoor furniture designed to endure the Caribbean climate, saves property owners and managers in the hospitality industry money; a small investment which pays major dividends in the medium- to long-term," the company said.

Dr Auliana Poon, founder and managing director of Tourism Intelligence International (TII), maintains that the line is so tough and durable it can be used in construction applications-decking and even walkways. "The line offers numerous advantages over furniture made of rattan, wood and even metal. It requires no stripping, sanding, painting or varnishing, and it will not rust or collect mold or mildew. In effect, it is virtually maintenance-free," the company said.

The company held its open house at the House of Being Sustainable last Saturday in Pax Vale, Upper Santa Cruz.
