In sec­ond place, al­so from South Trinidad was Glo­ria Dalls­ingh por­tray­ing Splen­dor of Lights. Dalls­ingh, from Kalicha­ran and As­so­ciates, de­signed her own cos­tume, as well as the one worn by Car­ni­val King fi­nal­ist Mar­lon Ram­per­sad. There were a few mishaps dur­ing the com­pe­ti­tion. Bri­an Mac Far­lane's Queen, Sev­ell Nicholls, parad­ing on stilts with in her elab­o­rate cos­tume, In the End–Dance and Re­joice, fell as she crossed the stage her por­tray­al. Al­though she man­aged to get back on the stilts, with as­sis­tance from Mac Far­lane's sup­port crew to con­tin­ue her pre­sen­ta­tion, she placed last com­pe­ti­tion.

The first queen to cross the stage, Gayle Mar­cano, al­so suf­fered a mishap when a cam­era boom col­lid­ed with her cos­tume, D Ru­by Brooch, crush­ing it. Un­fazed Mar­cano con­tin­ued and man­aged to place fifth with 387 points.
