In second place, also from South Trinidad was Gloria Dallsingh portraying Splendor of Lights. Dallsingh, from Kalicharan and Associates, designed her own costume, as well as the one worn by Carnival King finalist Marlon Rampersad. There were a few mishaps during the competition. Brian Mac Farlane's Queen, Sevell Nicholls, parading on stilts with in her elaborate costume, In the End–Dance and Rejoice, fell as she crossed the stage her portrayal. Although she managed to get back on the stilts, with assistance from Mac Farlane's support crew to continue her presentation, she placed last competition.
The first queen to cross the stage, Gayle Marcano, also suffered a mishap when a camera boom collided with her costume, D Ruby Brooch, crushing it. Unfazed Marcano continued and managed to place fifth with 387 points.
