The magic of Broadway lights up the Queens Hall stage this weekend with Showtime: A Musical Theatre Revue, a vibrant celebratioof iconic musicals. It is presented by Believe Jr., a dynamic youth performing arts collective and apprentice programme under the Eastern Performing Arts Fraternity.

This powrful musical journey at the Winifred Atwell Auditorium, Queen’s Hall features beloved numbers from Aida, Annie, Hamilton, Moana, Sister Act, High School Musical, and The Color Purple.

Showtime is the evolution of the acclaimed Musicale series—five Broadway-style installments produced and directed by John Thomas, a pioneer in local musical theatre and artistic development.

The Musicale productions quickly became fan favourites for their theatrical flair, powerful vocals, and polished performances.

Following Musicale, the Eastern Performing Arts Fraternity took time to broaden its creative scope.

“We stepped away from the musical theatre revue format to focus on developing our performers more holistically,” said Thomas.

“This allowed us to explore major classical and sacred works like David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus, Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass, Handel’s Messiah, and Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. These experiences deepened our repertoire and skill set.”

That same period saw the birth of Believe, a creative brand committed to development through the arts—and now Believe Jr., which provides intensive artistic training and real-world performance opportunities for aspiring young performers.

A Milestone Year

This year’s production is especially meaningful as it marks 20 years of dedicated service by the Eastern Performing Arts Fraternity in developing Trinidad and Tobago’s performing and visual arts landscape. From community concerts and sacred works to full-scale musical theatre and visual arts outreach, their legacy continues to shape generations of talent.

Showtime is a celebration of youth, artistry, and the timeless power of musical theatre.
