OBIT­U­ARY: Win­ston Ash­ton Richards (March 7, 1935-De­cem­ber 19, 2022)

DURHAM: Win­ston Ash­ton Richards, PhD., 87 years old, passed away peace­ful­ly sur­round­ed by his lov­ing wife Kath­leen, his chil­dren, in-laws and grand­chil­dren on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 19, 2022, at his home in Durham, North Car­oli­na. Born in Ch­agua­nas, Trinidad and To­ba­go, to the late Ed­ward Richards and Leano­ra Nim­blett-Richards, Dr. Richards came to Uni­ver­si­ty in the Unit­ed States in 1955. Dr. Richards re­ceived de­grees from Mar­quette Uni­ver­si­ty and The Uni­ver­si­ty of West­ern On­tario. Dr. Richards was a pro­fes­sor of Math­e­mat­ics and Sta­tis­tics at Penn State Uni­ver­si­ty, Har­ris­burg, a vis­it­ing pro­fes­sor at Stan­ford Uni­ver­si­ty and The Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies.

Dr. Richards is sur­vived by his wife, Kath­leen Marie Richards Esq.; chil­dren: Ash­ton Richards, Dr. Win­ston T. Richards and wife Michele, Dr. Marie Bar­ber and hus­band To­by, Dr. Michael Richards and wife Dr. Malana Moshesh, Brid­gette Richards Esq. and hus­band Jorge Fid­hel, Mary Kro­ner and hus­band Charles, Dr. Pa­tri­cia Richards-Alt­mon and hus­band Dr. Ephraim Loren­zo Alt­mon and Ed­ward Richards; ten grand­chil­dren; broth­er, Dr. Hen­ry Richards and wife Car­ol (de­ceased); sis­ter, Jacque­line Richards; nephew, Court­ney Richards and wife De­bra and niece, Lau­ra Richards.

Vis­i­tors will be re­ceived start­ing at 1:30 p.m. and the Memo­r­i­al Ser­vice will com­mence at 2:00 p.m. on Sat­ur­day, De­cem­ber 31st at Clements Fu­ner­al Home. A pri­vate link for view­ing the ser­vice will be post­ed on Clements’ site.
