In December 2022, the SBJA was forced to call early elections as several directors resigned from their positions–President Jason Roach; Vice President Kishal Basdeo; Treasurer Joash Kissooon; Director–Networking & Events Neela Rambharose; Director–Membership Michelle Baptiste; and Director–Digital Strategy Dale De Mille.
It was reported there has been internal fighting in the organisation which was confirmed by Roach to Guardian Media back then. Roach subsequently resigned as president.
“It is a matter of corporate governance where one particular executive member does not believe that he should follow the corporate governance and rules of the organisation, primarily when it pertains to signatories on the accounts of the organisation,” Roach added. “Once an organisation starts like that, I cannot be part of that.”
He said his statements would represent the views of other board directors who have resigned.
The board of 17 directors was appointed to office in 2021.
