Tamrat Yossef, left, with Rishi Bridgemohan, account manager, AWS; Guillermo Guerrero, ProServe customer practice manager, AWS; Ian Galt, group CIO ANSA McALaddress; Andres del Pino, vice president, digital transformation services, DFX5; Jailene Martinez, marketing manager DFX5, and Galo Sandoval, senior vice president/CRO and board member, DFX5.

Group Chief Information Officer of ANSA McAL Ian Galt says digital transformation is here to stay.

Galt shared his perspective on digital transformation during recent discussions held at the Brix Hotel, Port-of-Spain which was facilitated by DFX5.

With offices in the USA, Europe, and the Caribbean, DFX5 is among the leading cloud professional services networks in the world.

Headquartered in Miami, the company focuses on developing ideas into enterprise-grade solutions by offering best-in-class software development services for cloud solutions.

Speaking at the event Galt said, “Our industry has a lot of acronyms and buzzwords. There is no question that digital transformation is one of the newer buzzwords or buzz phrases. From my perspective, I think it is very much here to stay. You may not call it digital transformation in three or five years, but it is very much here to stay.”

According to a release the event brought together key senior executives who spoke about the current context of digital transformation, the role of technology leaders in this journey, the challenging context businesses are in, and the democratisation of automation and machine learning.

Andres del Pino of DXF5 also noted, “If we have an overemphasis on what technology can do then we are or may be setting ourselves up for failure. Digital transformation is not an IT project, it’s a company initiative and business and IT need to come together.”

With over ten years in the space of digital transformation, del Pino also shared his experience in the industry saying, “Early adopters of the technology have got gains, right? How do we catch up? How do we participate in this trend?

“We’re not going to replicate those successes, but we can speed up our journey. (What are the) technology trends that are now mature enough for us to consider them within our transformation strategy and intelligent automation?”

According to Galt it also becomes less of an operational cost and more of a strategic investment.

“The general transformation to my mind is simply about putting more and more power into the hands of the customers and more power into the sort of self–survey of the customer as opposed to the customer having to go in and to me that is only going to increase. So yes, today I can pay for things online, but I would predict in the next few years that it’s going to become even more predictive. Don’t view it as an expense, but literally view it as an investment. For me, it’s become less of an operational cost and more of a strategic investment,” Galt said.
