S&S Persad Supermarket opened it’s fourth location in Freeport on Friday.
At the supermarket’s soft opening on Thursday evening, managing director of the supermarket chain, Sunita Persad, said the company planned to help the Freeport community much as it had done at its traditional base in South East Trinidad.
“My parents’ vision was a simple one, to serve the community and we continue in that vein with this new location.
“In addition to direct job creation of 65 permanent jobs, we will welcome the supply of produce and goods of local farmers. These farmers will be incorporated into the pipeline that supplies our other three locations and Freeport and also benefit from originating in Mayaro and Rio Claro,” said Persad at the event.
“Loyal to local is not just a slogan at S&S, we live it and we breathe it everyday,” she said.
The Freeport branch is the first S&S Persad location to be opened outside of the Mayaro/Rio Claro area.
She added that the chain also launched a special initiative geared towards assisting small and medium-sized enterprises that have struggled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We recently launched a new initiative last week at the community commerce whereby small businesses enjoy exclusive rewards in the form of cashback, credit and free delivery from S&S Persad. We believe that we can give other businesses support to survive and thrive in challenging times,” said Persad.
Couva North MP Rudranath Indarsingh was present at the opening and lauded the chain for bringing business and greater opportunities to the area.
