S&S Per­sad Su­per­mar­ket opened it’s fourth lo­ca­tion in Freeport on Fri­day.

At the su­per­mar­ket’s soft open­ing on Thurs­day evening, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of the su­per­mar­ket chain, Suni­ta Per­sad, said the com­pa­ny planned to help the Freeport com­mu­ni­ty much as it had done at its tra­di­tion­al base in South East Trinidad.

“My par­ents’ vi­sion was a sim­ple one, to serve the com­mu­ni­ty and we con­tin­ue in that vein with this new lo­ca­tion.

“In ad­di­tion to di­rect job cre­ation of 65 per­ma­nent jobs, we will wel­come the sup­ply of pro­duce and goods of lo­cal farm­ers. These farm­ers will be in­cor­po­rat­ed in­to the pipeline that sup­plies our oth­er three lo­ca­tions and Freeport and al­so ben­e­fit from orig­i­nat­ing in Ma­yaro and Rio Claro,” said Per­sad at the event.

“Loy­al to lo­cal is not just a slo­gan at S&S, we live it and we breathe it every­day,” she said.

The Freeport branch is the first S&S Per­sad lo­ca­tion to be opened out­side of the Ma­yaro/Rio Claro area.

She added that the chain al­so launched a spe­cial ini­tia­tive geared to­wards as­sist­ing small and medi­um-sized en­ter­pris­es that have strug­gled in the wake of the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic.

“We re­cent­ly launched a new ini­tia­tive last week at the com­mu­ni­ty com­merce where­by small busi­ness­es en­joy ex­clu­sive re­wards in the form of cash­back, cred­it and free de­liv­ery from S&S Per­sad. We be­lieve that we can give oth­er busi­ness­es sup­port to sur­vive and thrive in chal­leng­ing times,” said Per­sad.

Cou­va North MP Rudranath In­dars­ingh was present at the open­ing and laud­ed the chain for bring­ing busi­ness and greater op­por­tu­ni­ties to the area.
