The Telecommunications Services of T&T (TSTT) is defending itself against what they claim is information of a defamatory nature being disseminated by the Communication Workers Union (CWU).
Officials said they were, "Alarmed at the magnitude of misinformation," circulating in the public domain and have since denied any and all accusations levelled against them by the CWU.
During a press conference on Wednesday, CWU President Clyde Elder claimed to have received "disturbing" documents which reportedly referred to questionable deals between TSTT and its international partners.
Dismissing Elder's claims, TSTT insisted the CWU was pursuing an agenda aimed at hindering their developmental work to transform the company.
TSTT said Elder's reference to the alleged forensic audit report regarding the acquisition of essential software licenses was the, "latest incidence of their callousness."
TSTT added, "Firstly, there was no forensic audit carried out in relation to the Universal License Agreement with Oracle. For its own internal purposes, the management of TSTT on its own initiative, commissioned an audit to have its processes re-examined."
TSTT denied a forensic audit was ever conducted into the company's operations in this area.
They said, "Secondly, prior to entering into the Universal License Agreement, Oracle was already a supplier of software licenses to TSTT."
TSTT said a business opportunity arose which enabled them to vary the nature of the licenses agreement with Oracle, in a manner intended to and which in fact continues to save TSTT millions of dollars in the acquisition cost of those software licenses.
TSTT added, "It is an act of wildness in these circumstances to demand a forensic audit be done on all of TSTT's operations".
TSTT they said it was equally wild to suggest that any credible package could be prepared for the fraud squad to investigate.
They denied, "It is also gravely inaccurate to seek to condemn TSTT's management who received Board approval for the transaction."
TSTT emphasized that neither the CEO nor any other executive management of TSTT could conclude the Universal License Agreement on their own.
Revealing they had engaged attorneys to examine the defamatory statements by CWU and the subsequent media publications that broadcast the information, TSTT said the CWU was misguided and misinformed.
However, they have vowed to resist any attempt to distract them from achieving their strategic mandate and completing the transformation process.
