More than a hun­dred new COVID-19 cas­es have been doc­u­ment­ed by the Min­istry of Health, in its lat­est up­date.

Days af­ter go­ing in­to self-quar­an­tine af­ter her aide-de-camp test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19, Pres­i­dent Paula-Mae Weekes has test­ed neg­a­tive for the virus.

The Min­istry of Health has record­ed an­oth­er COVID re­lat­ed death-bring­ing to­day’s to­tal to two. The min­istry al­so stat­ed that 44 ad­di­tion­al cas­es have been re­port­ed. The to­tal num­ber of ac­tive cas­es now stands at 1,609.

The Min­istry of Health pro­vides the fol­low­ing clin­i­cal up­date as of the morn­ing of Tues­day 8th Sep­tem­ber, 2020:

Two more deaths from COVID-19 have been record­ed in Trinidad and To­ba­go—both are el­der­ly males with pre-ex­ist­ing health con­di­tions—bring­ing the na­tion­al toll to 37 per­sons.

Some six­ty-one fixed penal­ty tick­ets have been is­sued to per­sons for breach­ing the COVID-19 reg­u­la­tions for fail­ing to wear a face mask.

An­oth­er death from COVID-19 has been record­ed in Trinidad and To­ba­go—an el­der­ly male with pre-ex­ist­ing health con­di­tions—bring­ing the na­tion­al toll to 35 per­sons.

UNC Al­der­man on the Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Coun­cil, Maris­sa Ram­lo­gan, is call­ing on Gov­ern­ment to set up COVID-19 care fa­cil­i­ties in Cen­tral Trinidad, as the virus con­tin­ues to rage through the pop­u­la­tion.

The Min­istry of Health is re­port­ing that four more peo­ple have test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of ac­tive cas­es in the coun­try to 1,477.

Twelve per­sons were ar­rest­ed and charged for the of­fence of gath­er­ing in a pub­lic space in two sep­a­rate in­ci­dents at bars.
