The sod has been turned for a new TT$43M library in La Horquetta.
Earlier today Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister – Communications, Symon de Nobriga and Member of Parliament for La Horquetta/Talparo, Foster Cummings turned the sod for the construction of the new La Horquetta Public Library at Slinger Francisco Boulevard, Phase 5, La Horquetta.
The new library will cost approximately TT$43 million and is scheduled to be completed within 18 months.
The library will be a three-story structure featuring a Visually Impaired Room, Multifunction Rooms, computer stations, and a 12,000-volume library collection, with Baby, Kids, and Senior Library sections.
It will also include commercial space, a 150-seat auditorium, a 210-seat amphitheatre, and a plaza.
According to the Ministry of Communications, over 30,000 residents in the La Horquetta community and environs will benefit from the educational provisions in the new library, with new opportunities for employment and small business ventures in the economic space.
