A 60-year-old attorney and her 67-year-old husband are the country's latest murder victims after they were found dead at their Cumuto home on Thursday night.
Police said a relative visited the Guatapajaro Road, Caratal, home of Kunari Baksh and her husband Nasheed Baksh, around 7:15 pm when she noticed the house had no electricity.
On entering the home, she saw the house had been ransacked and discovered the body of Kunari Baksh tied up in the living room and face down in the pool of blood.
On checking the home, she later found Nasheed Baksh bound and gagged on the second floor bedroom of the home also in a pool of blood.
Northern Division police were called in with officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II who are continuing enquiries.
Their murders bring the murder toll to 7 for the year thus far.
