An autopsy on the severed head of Siparia grandmother Joann Estick has confirmed that it was chopped off.
Police said the autopsy was done at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, yesterday, after which it was released to her family.
Estick’s head was found in a cooler at the side of the road last Thursday.
Officers of the South Western Division Task Force were on patrol around 1.15 pm, when someone directed them to a bag near a drain at Sennon Village. Inside the bag, they discovered a small white plastic cooler, partially opened, containing Estick’s severed head.
Guardian Media was told that Estick did odd jobs in the village, cleaning yards and washing cars. Relatives and friends admitted she used drugs, but they could not understand why she was murdered in such horrific circumstances.
A villager claimed Estick called him 12 times on WhatsApp early Tuesday morning.
Up to last evening, the rest of her body had still not been found, and the police had no suspects in custody for her murder.
