Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the sud­den death of a ba­by in Cou­va yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Po­lice say around 8:30 a.m. on Sun­day, Cou­va po­lice of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to a re­port of an un­re­spon­sive child in McBean Vil­lage, Cou­va.

The par­ents re­port­ed leav­ing their four-month-old son with the babysit­ter around 8:50 p.m. on Sat­ur­day (No­vem­ber 30). 

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice re­port, the par­ents re­turned home around 2:00 a.m. and the babysit­ter said she fed Lu­cas at mid­night and he was fine.

The moth­er placed Lu­cas in his crib and went to sleep. She found him un­re­spon­sive around 8:15 a.m. The ba­by was pro­nounced dead at home.

The body was trans­port­ed to the San Fer­nan­do Mor­tu­ary for a post-mortem.  In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
