An autopsy has confirmed that two-month-old Amy Doodnath died from a blunt force injury to her head.
The infant, who died last Tuesday, was unresponsive when her mother and grandmother took her at the Siparia Health Facility shortly before 8 pm. Her mother Roshanie, 25, said the baby was left sleeping on a bed at their Bunsee Trace home, but around 5 pm she saw a cut on top of her head.
Amy’s grandmother, a patient care assistant, arrived at the home around 7.20 pm and when she realised the baby was in distress, took her to the health centre where she died.
A police report listed the baby’s injuries as a laceration to the top of her head and two bumps at the back of her head.
Investigations are continuing.
