A 13-year-old boy scared off a bandit when he screamed for help at his California home, early on Saturday morning.
Police said the boy was asleep in the living room at 3:45 am, when a man woke him, held a knife to his throat and ordered him to be quiet.
The boy screamed for help, waking another relative who was in the house at the time.
The bandit fled through the front door and escaped.
Upon checking the home, the boy and relative noticed that a cellphone was missing.
Central Division police said the bandit likely entered through the front door, which was closed but not locked at the time.
