Boy, 13, held at knifepoint in burglary

A 13-year-old boy scared off a ban­dit when he screamed for help at his Cal­i­for­nia home ear­ly on Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the boy was asleep in the liv­ing room of the home around 3.45 am when he was star­tled by a man who pressed a knife against his throat and or­dered him to be qui­et.

The boy screamed for help as an­oth­er rel­a­tive who was in the house at the time was awak­ened.

The ban­dit ran out of the front door and es­caped.

On check­ing the home, the boy and his rel­a­tive no­ticed that a cell phone was miss­ing.

Cen­tral Di­vi­sion po­lice said the ban­dit like­ly en­tered the front door which was closed but not locked at the time.

PoS res­i­dent struck by stray bul­let

An east Port-of-Spain man who heard a vol­ley of gun­fire was struck with a stray bul­let when he peeped out­side to see what was hap­pen­ing.

Po­lice said the 53-year-old man was in the bed­room of his Clifton Tow­ers home around 4.10 pm on Sat­ur­day when he heard gun­shots.

As he looked out his win­dow he felt a burn­ing sen­sa­tion on his right palm near his lit­tle fin­ger and re­alised he was bleed­ing.

The man vis­it­ed the hos­pi­tal where he was treat­ed.

Fa­tal po­lice shoot­ing in Clax­ton Bay

A shootout with po­lice end­ed in the death of one man and the seizure of a gun in Clax­ton Bay on Sat­ur­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion were on pa­trol on Dump Road, around 4 pm when they saw two men stand­ing at the side of the road.

One of the men, po­lice said, had a pis­tol tucked in­to the waist of his pants.

On see­ing the po­lice ve­hi­cle, both men ran in­to near­by bush­es, as the of­fi­cers chased them.

On en­ter­ing the bush­es, of­fi­cers re­port­ed that they were shot at.

Po­lice re­turned fire killing one of the men, who was iden­ti­fied as Em­manuel Mo­hammed.

A Pietro Beretta pis­tol, be­lieved to have been used by Mo­hammed was found and seized with five rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion.
