A 39-year-old Care­nage man is cur­rent­ly be­ing treat­ed at hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing a po­lice-in­volved shoot­ing dur­ing an an­ti-rime ex­er­cise last night. 

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, dur­ing the ex­er­cise of­fi­cers went to Fran­cois Street where they ob­served a man with a MAC 11 run­ning along a flight of stairs. The of­fi­cers or­dered the sus­pect to stop, how­ev­er, he al­leged­ly point­ed the firearm in their di­rec­tion and of­fi­cers opened fire. 

The man was hit in about the body and fell to the ground. He was rushed to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment where he is list­ed in se­ri­ous con­di­tion.  

The firearm was sub­se­quent­ly re­cov­ered from the scene.
