A 39-year-old Carenage man is currently being treated at hospital following a police-involved shooting during an anti-rime exercise last night.
According to police reports, during the exercise officers went to Francois Street where they observed a man with a MAC 11 running along a flight of stairs. The officers ordered the suspect to stop, however, he allegedly pointed the firearm in their direction and officers opened fire.
The man was hit in about the body and fell to the ground. He was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital for treatment where he is listed in serious condition.
The firearm was subsequently recovered from the scene.
