Three mem­bers of the Board of Com­mis­sion­ers for the Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) re­ceived their Let­ters of Ap­point­ment to­day, Thurs­day 10 March 2022, from Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Util­i­ties, Mar­vin Gon­za­les MP.

An of­fi­cial state­ment from the Min­istry of Pub­lic Util­i­ties (MPU) re­ports that Ravin­dra Nan­ga re­ceived his let­ter of ap­point­ment, con­firm­ing his po­si­tion as Chair­man of the Board, while Acher­son Wells was ap­point­ed Deputy Chair­man.  Al­ston Fournil­li­er al­so be­came the most re­cent­ly ap­point­ed Com­mis­sion­er on the Board of Com­mis­sion­ers.

Mr. Nan­ga had served as In­ter­im Chair­man since Ju­ly 2021. Hav­ing prac­ticed as an At­tor­ney-at-Law for over two decades, he is cur­rent­ly a Di­rec­tor on the Civ­il Avi­a­tion Board and al­so has served as a Di­rec­tor on the Board of the North Cen­tral Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty.

“Un­der his lead­er­ship, the Board of Com­mis­sion­ers has made sub­stan­tial progress in prepar­ing WASA for large-scale trans­for­ma­tion, to a tech­nol­o­gy-dri­ven wa­ter and waste­water au­thor­i­ty,” the Min­istry’s re­lease states.

The Min­istry re­lease notes that Acher­son Wells has over 40 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence as an en­gi­neer, pri­mar­i­ly at the for­mer TRIN­TOC and PETROTRIN. He al­so has served as the Gen­er­al Man­ag­er of the Pub­lic Trans­port Ser­vice Com­pa­ny (PTSC), and as a Com­mis­sion­er on the Board of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Elec­tric­i­ty Com­mis­sion (T&TEC).

The newest Com­mis­sion­er on the WASA Board, Al­ston Fournil­li­er, is a Char­tered Builder and Sur­vey­or. 

“He is the cur­rent Pres­i­dent of the Plumbers As­so­ci­a­tion of Trinidad and To­ba­go (TPATT), a po­si­tion which has al­lowed him to spear­head sev­er­al ini­tia­tives that will pos­i­tive­ly im­pact crit­i­cal el­e­ments of WASA’s op­er­a­tions,” the Min­istry’s state­ment re­ports.
