A Claxton Bay man, who went to Port-of-Spain to sell a Play Station 5, had the item stolen after the alleged buyer handed him an envelope containing $160 before running off.
The 31-year-old victim, of Claxton Bay, arranged the online transaction with the alleged buyer for April 11.
The two agreed to meet at the corner of Park and Charlotte Streets around 11.45 am.
Reports indicate that as the buyer arrived, he handed the victim the envelope, which supposedly contained the cash, and took possession of the box with the item.
Upon checking the envelope, the victim realised it only contained $160 in cash, and not the $4,800 as agreed upon. As he turned around to call the buyer back to clarify what was happening, the man took off running along Bath Street.
The victim later filed a report with the police. —Anna-Lisa Paul
