Police officers investigating the death of a three-month-old baby boy say so far, foul play is not suspected in connection with the infant’s demise.
Police said a 24-year-old woman brought her baby son to the Cunupia Health Centre around 9.30 am on Monday and told doctors that he was unresponsive.
Staff examined the baby and declared him dead at the scene.
The child’s mother told staff that the boy was alive around 1 am on Monday when she put him to bed.
She checked on him hours later, around 9 am, and found he was not moving.
Police said doctors did not find any marks of violence and did not suspect foul play. Police said officers of the Cunupia CID are continuing the investigation. An autopsy is to be conducted later this week.
