Po­lice have found skele­tal re­mains in the back seat in a burnt out ve­hi­cle at Sawmill Trace, Old Va­len­cia Road, Va­len­cia.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, po­lice re­ceived an anony­mous call in­form­ing them about the burnt car and part of a skull in the ve­hi­cle at Sawmill Trace around 8 am.

ASP Re­vanales, In­sp Ju­ri, Sgt Ed­wards and WPC Keerai, of San­gre Grande CID, along with mem­bers San­gre Grande Task Force, re­spond­ed. They were lat­er joined by Homi­cide Of­fi­cers at­tached to Arou­ca, Re­gion II led by Cpl Ram­di­al.

At the scene, the of­fi­cers found a burnt out Nis­san Wingroad which was com­plete­ly burnt out. In­side they found skele­tal re­mains but were un­able to iden­ti­fy whether they were that of a male or fe­male. Of­fi­cers be­lieve the per­son was tied to the back seat of the ve­hi­cle and set on fire by the as­sailants. They be­lieve the act was car­ried out be­tween Thurs­day night and Fri­day morn­ing.

Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer Dr Prince viewed the re­mains and or­dered them re­moved to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James, for test­ing. The ve­hi­cle was al­so tak­en for foren­sic test­ing

Head of East­ern Di­vi­sion CID In­sp Ju­ri is call­ing on mem­bers to con­tact the San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion at 668-2444 if they can as­sist in iden­ti­fy­ing the body. Homi­cide Of­fi­cers at­tached to Arou­ca Re­gion II are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
