Police have found skeletal remains in the back seat in a burnt out vehicle at Sawmill Trace, Old Valencia Road, Valencia.
According to reports, police received an anonymous call informing them about the burnt car and part of a skull in the vehicle at Sawmill Trace around 8 am.
ASP Revanales, Insp Juri, Sgt Edwards and WPC Keerai, of Sangre Grande CID, along with members Sangre Grande Task Force, responded. They were later joined by Homicide Officers attached to Arouca, Region II led by Cpl Ramdial.
At the scene, the officers found a burnt out Nissan Wingroad which was completely burnt out. Inside they found skeletal remains but were unable to identify whether they were that of a male or female. Officers believe the person was tied to the back seat of the vehicle and set on fire by the assailants. They believe the act was carried out between Thursday night and Friday morning.
District Medical Officer Dr Prince viewed the remains and ordered them removed to the Forensic Science Centre, St James, for testing. The vehicle was also taken for forensic testing
Head of Eastern Division CID Insp Juri is calling on members to contact the Sangre Grande Police Station at 668-2444 if they can assist in identifying the body. Homicide Officers attached to Arouca Region II are continuing investigations.
