Police officers attached to the Southern Division Task Force have arrested a 25-year-old man after they seized a large quantity of marijuana during an anti-crime exercise on Thursday.
Police said that at around 9:50 pm they were conducting a mobile patrol on Bellevue Industrial Estate, Mayaro, when officers acted on intelligence and intercepted a motor vehicle driven by a man from Champ Fleurs.
During the search of the vehicle, the officers found two crocus bags containing 39 kilograms of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $1,115,400.
The officers seized the illegal narcotics and the man was arrested.
