Customs seize $250,000 in illegal honey

The Cus­toms and Ex­cise Di­vi­sion says in its on­go­ing fight to com­bat the im­por­ta­tion of con­tra­band it has seized a large quan­ti­ty of hon­ey.

This oc­curred on Thurs­day.

In a me­dia re­lease the Di­vi­sion said of­fi­cers at­tached to the Ma­rine In­ter­dic­tion Unit sta­tioned at the Ce­dros port; act­ing on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, pro­ceed­ed to the old jet­ty lo­cat­ed at Bonasse Vil­lage, Ce­dros.

They in­ter­cept­ed a truck with six­ty (60) five gal­lon buck­ets loaded with hon­ey. The es­ti­mat­ed street val­ue of the car­go is ap­prox­i­mate­ly TT$250,000.00.

It said in close prox­im­i­ty to the in­ter­cep­tion were sev­en Span­ish speak­ing men who were not in pos­ses­sion of any iden­ti­fi­ca­tion. The of­fi­cers de­tained the men and hand­ed them over to the Im­mi­gra­tion Di­vi­sion.
