As of 9am on Monday, 19 May 2025, the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government is warning of possible localised flooding due to high tide and slow runoff.
In a statement, the Ministry said, “River Level Advisory Monday 19th May 2025 as of 9:00 am. Localised flooding is to be expected as we are currently experiencing high tide, and runoff will be slow. The public is urged to take caution.”
The latest river levels across the country are as follows:
El Carmen (Caroni River) – 103% capacity (overflowing)
Caroni (Bamboo Settlement #3) – 73% capacity
Caroni Tumpuna – 88% capacity
South Oropouche – 67% capacity
Manuel Congo – 50% capacity
North Oropouche (Toco Road) – 47% capacity
Arouca – 34% capacity
Cunupia River – 38% capacity
Diego Martin River – 27% capacity
Caura River – 32% capacity
Guaracara – 15% capacity
San Juan River – 14% capacity
Cipero River – 6% capacity
Couva River – 7% capacity
Maraval River – 10% capacity
The Ministry reminded the public to contact their respective Disaster Management Units for updates and assistance.
