A 37-year-old man was mur­dered in Erin yes­ter­day.

Jen­tle Jade Dates alias Porkie of Erin Beach Road was shot mul­ti­ple times at the Erin Beach Fish­ing De­pot.

Po­lice sus­pect his killing was drug-re­lat­ed.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, around 5:20 pm Dates was sit­ting and lim­ing with a group of friends on the tray of his white Kia K2700 pick-up.

A sil­ver AD wag­on with a black bumper with three oc­cu­pants ar­rived about ten min­utes lat­er and parked some five feet away from Dates’ ve­hi­cle.

The men seat­ed in the front pas­sen­ger seat and back seat of the wag­on then came with guns and fired at Dates and his friends.

Dates fell off the tray as his friends scam­pered to safe­ty.

The gun­men then went up to Dates as he lay on the ground and pumped sev­er­al bul­lets in­to his body.

They then re­turned to the wag­on which sped off.

Dates’ friends picked him up and placed him in the tray of the van.

He was tak­en to the Siparia Health Fa­cil­i­ty where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

The body was then trans­port­ed to the mor­tu­ary at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal pend­ing a COVID test and post-mortem at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre.

Po­lice re­cov­ered over 30 spent shells as well as sev­er­al pro­jec­tiles at the crime scene. Of­fi­cers of the Erin Po­lice Sta­tion and Homi­cide Bu­reau led by ASP Ramdeo and Sgt James vis­it­ed and processed the scene. PC Grif­fith is in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
