Three members of a Palo Seco family are fighting for their lives after being hacked by man on Sunday.
Leslie Forester, 57, his wife Jenifer Alexander, 55 and daughter Lisann Forester, 30, were attacked at their Palo Seco home around noon by a 40-year-old man.
Reports stated that around 7.30 am, residents near the Palo Seco Velodrome heard screams at the victims’ home and found Alexander in her yard, bleeding from wounds to her head and hand.
Residents contacted the police and a team led by acting Insp Khan and Sgt Smith responded.
The suspect was seen inside the house with a bloodied cutlass and as he saw the police, he ran out of the house and attempted to hide at a neighbouring property. However, he was chased by police and residents.
Officers were injured trying to arrest the suspect but he was eventually subdued and taken to the Santa Flora Police Station.
A group of residents had gone to the house where they found Forester bleeding from wounds to his left hand which was almost severed at the wrist. Lisann’s injuries were more serious as she was chopped on her head and neck. Residents took the three injured people to the Siparia District Health Facility where they were treated and transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital. They remained in a critical condition on Sunday. The officers were also treated at the health facility.
