Cur­rent Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment for Laven­tille East/ Mor­vant, Adri­an Leonce MP, has re­vealed that per­son­al is­sues af­fect­ing him and his fam­i­ly caused his with­draw­al from yes­ter­day's screen­ing of can­di­dates for the Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM).

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands from sources in­side the PNM that pri­or to this de­vel­op­ment, the in­cum­bent Laven­tille East-Mor­vant MP was an un­op­posed can­di­date, and al­so had been se­lect­ed to re­turn.

How­ev­er, Leonce has since con­firmed his with­draw­al from his can­di­da­cy, which oc­curred just be­fore the screen­ing ses­sion.

“I love my peo­ple. The con­stituen­cy of Laven­tille East Mor­vant is the place that I was born and grew. I be­lieve that God placed in my heart a pur­pose and pas­sion to serve. It was brought to my at­ten­tion yes­ter­day, some very se­ri­ous per­son­al is­sues that af­fects my fam­i­ly and my­self. It breaks my heart to not be able to of­fer my full ser­vice to my peo­ple as I have been com­mit­ted to the de­vel­op­ment and growth of peo­ple. I will com­mit to my ser­vice un­til the end of the term but have to ad­dress my per­son­al is­sues. I hope that in the fu­ture as these is­sues are re­solved that I can re­turn to serve the peo­ple. I love my peo­ple, and I will con­tin­ue, in what­ev­er ca­pac­i­ty I can, to serve. SER­VICE IS THE GREAT­EST EX­PRES­SION OF LOVE.”
