Fire contained at Petrotrin Administration Building

Em­ploy­ees were safe­ly evac­u­at­ed from the Petrotrin/Paria Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing in Pointe-a-Pierre this morn­ing as part of the build­ing caught fire.

Fire Ser­vice per­son­nel were still at the scene a short while ago try­ing to de­ter­mine the cause of the fire.

Paria Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Lead Ner­is­sa Feverk told Guardian Me­dia it was a mi­nor in­ci­dent that was quick­ly con­tained.

She said, "On Wednes­day 1st No­vem­ber 2023, at 8.30am, the fire alarm was sound­ed, and all per­son­nel lo­cat­ed at Petrotrin Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing were im­me­di­ate­ly and safe­ly evac­u­at­ed and re­lo­cat­ed to the sec­ondary muster point.

The emer­gency re­sponse was im­me­di­ate­ly ac­ti­vat­ed, and the Trinidad and To­ba­go Fire Ser­vice are on site."

She said based on Fire Ser­vices pre­lim­i­nary find­ings, the fire was lo­cat­ed on the ground floor of the build­ing and has been con­tained.

She could not say the ex­tent of the dam­age.

Fer­eck added that Paria In­ci­dent Com­mand team and man­age­ment met with all evac­u­at­ed per­son­nel at the car park to pro­vide an up­date.
