The Chief Personnel Officer, Commander Dr. Daryl Dindial, and the Fire Service 2nd Division Association continues to work together to establish conditional agreements surrounding the standardising of Vacation Leave for Officers in the Fire Service. Dr. Dindial met with the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service 1st and 2nd Divisions on October 27 to sign a Memorandum of Agreement that regularises the entitlements of Vacation Leave for Fire Officers.
Similar to the Memorandum of Agreement signed with the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service on October 18, Commander Dindial advises that the Agreement provides the same results where Fire Officers will earn Vacation Leave in accordance with the years of service. He further indicated that issues concerning the accumulation of leave and the approval to proceed on casual were also considered.
Commander Dindial wishes to identify the stewardship of Mr. Leo Ramkissoon, President of the 2nd Division Association who initially identified the issue in January 2022 and continued to advocate for its resolution on behalf of his Association’s membership.
The CPO advises that there are many other matters the State has demonstrated in its intent to support and strengthen the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service, for example, a new Job Evaluation Exercise that was proposed in the recent wage negotiations. The CPO thanks all Fire Officers for their dedication to service and contributions to our country. He added they continue to operate in a complex and expanded multidimensional environment with their key mission being to save lives and property, in service to our people.
