A 33-year-old fe­male em­ploy­ee of the Port-of-Spain City Cor­po­ra­tion (POSCC) was am­bushed and shot on Mon­day morn­ing in Bel­mont.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred around 6:30 am along Lovers Lane.

Po­lice said the woman, iden­ti­fied as Onel­la Parks, was on her way to work when a lone gun­man ap­proached her and opened fire. The gun­man then ran away.

Parks was tak­en to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal but suc­cumbed to her in­juries.

Po­lice of­fi­cers are cur­rent­ly on the scene as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ue.
