A 50-year-old Freeport man was shot in the leg after he went to meet someone he contacted on Facebook about purchasing a car.
Police said the victim and his wife went to Aranguez on Thursday around 10 am to meet a man he met on Facebook to purchase a Hyundai Elantra.
When they arrived at the meeting point, a gold Nissan Almera reportedly blocked their path. A man with a gun, along with and two others, emerged from the vehicle. As the men approached, the victim reversed and was shot as he fled.
The victim was shot in the left leg and taken to hospital where he now is warded in a stable condition.
A Morvant woman who was in possession of the keys to the Nissan Almera used in the attempted robbery, is said to be assisting police with their investigation.
