Guardian Me­dia has won two awards in this year's an­nu­al Caribbean Broad­cast­ing Union's (CBU) me­dia awards held in Be­lize on Tues­day night.

The me­dia house al­so re­ceived three spe­cial men­tions for sto­ries done over the last year.

Jour­nal­ist Carisa Lee won the tele­vi­sion cat­e­go­ry for Ex­cel­lence in Re­spon­si­ble Re­port­ing on Youth In­volve­ment in Crime with a news re­port “Youths And Se­ri­ous Crime” while the sec­ond award went to Akash Sama­roo and Soyi­ni Grey in the cat­e­go­ry of Ex­cel­lence in Re­spon­si­ble Re­port­ing on Traf­fick­ing in Per­sons with, “Face It & Fix It”.

Weath­er an­chor Kalain Ho­sein re­ceived three spe­cial men­tions in the cat­e­gories of Best Cli­mate Change Doc­u­men­tary, Best Cli­mate Change In­ves­tiga­tive Re­port and Best Cli­mate Change News Item.

He shared the Best Cli­mate Change Doc­u­men­tary recog­ni­tion with video ed­i­tor Ker­lon Orr and drone op­er­a­tor, Brent Pin­heiro with the re­port, “Wood­land: The Salt­wa­ter Cri­sis”.

This was the 35th edi­tion of the CBU Awards, which recog­nis­es jour­nal­ism ex­cel­lence across the Caribbean.
