Guardian Media has won two awards in this year's annual Caribbean Broadcasting Union's (CBU) media awards held in Belize on Tuesday night.
The media house also received three special mentions for stories done over the last year.
Journalist Carisa Lee won the television category for Excellence in Responsible Reporting on Youth Involvement in Crime with a news report “Youths And Serious Crime” while the second award went to Akash Samaroo and Soyini Grey in the category of Excellence in Responsible Reporting on Trafficking in Persons with, “Face It & Fix It”.
Weather anchor Kalain Hosein received three special mentions in the categories of Best Climate Change Documentary, Best Climate Change Investigative Report and Best Climate Change News Item.
He shared the Best Climate Change Documentary recognition with video editor Kerlon Orr and drone operator, Brent Pinheiro with the report, “Woodland: The Saltwater Crisis”.
This was the 35th edition of the CBU Awards, which recognises journalism excellence across the Caribbean.
