Prime Minister revealed during a recent post-Cabinet news conference that he was going to Washington on January 28 for discussions with US officials on the special vetted unit regarding security and the problem of transnational guns.
Last year, the Prime Minister said the US had suggested the specially vetted unit within the T&T Police Service. He said the US was willing to work with T&T and the Caribbean region on the problem of transnational guns, but one of their conditions is that they must have confidence in the people with whom they’ll associate, hence the reason for the vetted unit.
