In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to an in­ci­dent on Mon­day in Cunu­pia, where a se­cu­ri­ty guard ac­ci­den­tal­ly shot him­self in the foot.

Po­lice were called to the Chi­na Rose Su­per­mar­ket, South­ern Main Road, En­ter­prise, at 8.40 am, where they met a 29-year-old man bleed­ing from a gun­shot wound to the foot.

The SWAT Se­cu­ri­ty Lim­it­ed guard re­port­ed that at 8.25 am, he was per­form­ing es­cort pa­trol du­ty with a fe­male of­fi­cer, whilst armed with a CZ Scor­pi­on Evo 3 Pis­tol bear­ing and 20 rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion, when he at­tempt­ed to re­verse the ve­hi­cle and si­mul­ta­ne­ous­ly heard a loud ex­plo­sion.

He said he felt a burn­ing sen­sa­tion in his foot and saw blood ooz­ing from his shoe.

The po­lice re­spond­ed and took con­trol of the firearm.

SWAT of­fi­cials were al­so con­tact­ed and took the vic­tim to hos­pi­tal, where he was treat­ed and dis­charged the same day.
