Investigations are continuing into an incident on Monday in Cunupia, where a security guard accidentally shot himself in the foot.
Police were called to the China Rose Supermarket, Southern Main Road, Enterprise, at 8.40 am, where they met a 29-year-old man bleeding from a gunshot wound to the foot.
The SWAT Security Limited guard reported that at 8.25 am, he was performing escort patrol duty with a female officer, whilst armed with a CZ Scorpion Evo 3 Pistol bearing and 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition, when he attempted to reverse the vehicle and simultaneously heard a loud explosion.
He said he felt a burning sensation in his foot and saw blood oozing from his shoe.
The police responded and took control of the firearm.
SWAT officials were also contacted and took the victim to hospital, where he was treated and discharged the same day.
