Gunmen reportedly opened fire on the Valencia Police Post on Sunday but luckily, no one was injured.
According to a police report, around 11.55 pm, PC Ramphal was on sentry duty at the post when he heard several loud explosions outside.
When he checked outside, PC Ramphal received information that a white-coloured Nissan Slyphy was heading past the police post in an easterly direction when the vehicvle stopped and several shots were heard. The driver then sped off along the Valencia Old Road.
PC Ramphal communicated with PC Rattansingh and WPCs William-James and Sundar, who were on mobile patrol. The officers immediately returned to the Police Post, where several brass-coloured cylindrical objects were observed along the roadway at the front of the site.
All all points bulletin was put out for the vehicle and the suspects but officers made no headway in finding them.
CSI personnel PC Daniel and WPc Kheerai-Roopnarone visited the scene, where four .9mm ammunition casings were retrieved.
No one was injured, nor was there any visible signs of damage to the property.
Snr Supt Khan, Commander Eastern Division, and Sgt Gloudon visited the scene.

Bandits rob restaurant
Three men robbed a cashier at a Chinese restaurant on Sunday morning, making off with $550 from the register and the teen’s cellphone worth $3,000.
Police reported that around 11 am, the 19-year-old was at her Eastern Main Road, Arouca workplace when she heard a voice shouting, “Get on the ground!”
She said she looked around and saw a gunman and two accomplices standing behind her. One of the men grabbed her by the back of the neck and ordered her to open the register. He then took her cellphone, an iPhone 11. The men three then ran off.
Police said the cashier was left traumatised by the incident.
