Health Min­is­ter Ter­rence Deyals­ingh says 63 sur­veil­lance tests were done since last Tues­day and all have re­turned neg­a­tive for COVID-19.

Two weeks ago, the min­ster an­nounced that one health cen­tre in each coun­ty will be se­lect­ed and any­one show­ing any COVID-19 symp­toms will be test­ed.

Speak­ing at a news con­fer­ence this morn­ing Min­is­ter Deyals­ingh said:

“What is a sig­nif­i­cant de­vel­op­ment are the 63 sur­veil­lance tests, all neg­a­tive.”

The min­is­ter al­so re­vealed that 37 peo­ple have been dis­charged to date, nine of whom were sent home last evening.

A to­tal of 1,195 unique tests have been com­plet­ed and 115 have come back pos­i­tive.

There are nine peo­ple at the Cau­ra Hos­pi­tal; who are said to be sta­ble, 23 in Cou­va; all am­bu­la­to­ry.

At the Brook­lyn fa­cil­i­ty in San­gre Grande, there are now 16 pa­tients and at the Home of Foot­ball in Cou­va, 22 peo­ple with no symp­toms.

Min­ster Deyals­ingh said there is one sus­pect­ed case at the Princess Eliz­a­beth Cen­tre.

Over­all, he said, there are 109 per­sons be­ing tak­en care of in the par­al­lel health sys­tem, which was set up to deal with the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic.

The lo­cal death tal­ly re­mains at eight.

Yes­ter­day, 33 na­tion­als re­turned from Bar­ba­dos and are be­ing housed at the Trinidad and To­ba­go Na­tion­al Rac­quet Cen­tre in Tacarigua.
