Her­itage Pe­tro­le­um Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed says a con­den­sate leak along a 6-inch trunk pipeline, run­ning from Bal­a­ta East Field to Bar­rack­pore Tank Farm, is be­ing clamped.

In a press re­lease is­sued yes­ter­day af­ter­noon, Her­itage stat­ed that all avail­able re­sources, in­clud­ing the ser­vices of spe­cialised re­sponse con­trac­tors, have been mo­bilised to clean up the af­fect­ed ar­eas.

Ac­cord­ing to Her­itage Pe­tro­le­um, it re­ceived re­ports of a con­den­sate leak in the vicin­i­ty of Rochard Dou­glas Road, Bar­rack­pore, yes­ter­day.

It said com­pa­ny of­fi­cials were im­me­di­ate­ly dis­patched to the site and quick­ly de­ter­mined that the leak was em­a­nat­ing along a 6-inch trunk pipeline, run­ning from Bal­a­ta East Field to Bar­rack­pore Tank Farm.

The pipeline was iso­lat­ed and was in the process of be­ing clamped up to yes­ter­day evening.

Her­itage added that it was mo­bil­is­ing all avail­able re­sources, in­clud­ing the ser­vices of spe­cialised re­sponse con­trac­tors to clean up the af­fect­ed ar­eas.

It said res­i­dents were in­formed of the clean-up ef­forts and Her­itage op­er­a­tional and com­mu­ni­ty li­aisons were on the site to give guide­lines, share in­for­ma­tion and of­fer sup­port.

The com­pa­ny said it is con­duct­ing on­go­ing sur­veil­lance to en­sure the to­tal­i­ty of the leak is con­tained.

Her­itage, in its state­ment, al­so ad­vised the pub­lic that there were traf­fic re­stric­tions, with­in the im­me­di­ate vicin­i­ty of Rochard Dou­glas Road, Bar­rack­pore.

The com­pa­ny said it no­ti­fied the Min­istry of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries and all oth­er reg­u­la­to­ry agen­cies, in­clud­ing the En­vi­ron­men­tal Man­age­ment Au­thor­i­ty (EMA) and the Oc­cu­pa­tion­al Safe­ty and Health Agency (OS­HA).
