A 34-year-old hospital attendant became the country's latest road fatality after the car he was driving collided with a tree off the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway on Saturday night.
Police said Kendell Cox was driving his silver Nissan Wingroad near Food Basket at 9:15 pm when he overtook several vehicles in the left lane.
Cox reportedly drove onto a grassy area, lost control, and veered into the middle of the road. He hit the median on the fast lane before crashing into a tree, uprooting it.
Other drivers witnessed the accident and called the Fire Service, who responded to the scene and used a hydraulic rescue tool (like the ‘Jaws of Life’) to remove Cox.
A District Medical Officer arrived at the scene and declared Cox dead.
