Kidnapping rumour spreads after dispute near daycare

An ar­gu­ment be­tween a Bar­rack­pore moth­er and a rel­a­tive, and her sub­se­quent dis­ap­pear­ance out­side a pre-school caused pan­ic when it was re­port­ed on so­cial me­dia that she was kid­napped.

How­ev­er, po­lice said peo­ple had ex­ag­ger­at­ed the sit­u­a­tion and jumped to a con­clu­sion be­fore get­ting the facts.

The woman was lo­cat­ed by po­lice and was well.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the woman was out­side a preschool off the Rochard Dou­glas Road when she had a dis­pute with a rel­a­tive.

Po­lice said some­one at the school saw the woman be­ing placed in­side the car and con­tact­ed an Emer­gency Re­sponse po­lice of­fi­cer and asked him to pass by the school to see whether or not some­thing was wrong. The in­for­ma­tion was passed on to Bar­rack­pore po­lice and the woman was iden­ti­fied. 

Of­fi­cers said when she was con­tact­ed, the woman re­port­ed that she was well and lim­ing with some­one. 

How­ev­er, claims of the woman be­ing kid­napped were shared via so­cial me­dia yes­ter­day, in­clud­ing a pho­to­graph of her and a child. It was al­so claimed that she played a prank on the po­lice, how­ev­er, po­lice said no of­fi­cial re­port was made up to yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.
