James Lam­bert has been sworn in for a fourth con­sec­u­tive term in of­fice as pres­i­dent-gen­er­al of the Na­tion­al Union of Gov­ern­ment and Fed­er­at­ed Work­ers (NUGFW).

The swear­ing-in cer­e­mo­ny took place on Tues­day at the NUGFW’s head of­fice lo­cat­ed at Up­per Hen­ry Street in Port-of-Spain.

Lam­bert, in de­liv­er­ing a brief vic­to­ry speech, to the small gath­er­ing which con­sist­ed of union mem­bers and new­ly-elect­ed mem­bers, list­ed some is­sues that he will seek to ad­dress im­me­di­ate­ly in­clud­ing rais­ing the re­tire­ment age from 60 to 65 for dai­ly paid work­ers from the lo­cal, cen­tral gov­ern­ment and the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly, salary ne­go­ti­a­tions, pen­sion pack­ages and hous­ing for To­ba­go work­ers.

Lam­bert dis­closed that there is a planned meet­ing with the Min­is­ter of Fi­nance Colm Im­bert on No­vem­ber 20 where such is­sues will be raised and dis­cussed in depth.

Lam­bert’s par­ty, Team Faith­ful, re­tained the 15 con­test­ed posts, with new and re-elect­ed mem­bers.
