Trevist Nicholas of Maraval has been charged with the murder of 27-year-old Kiefer Wilson.
A media release from the TTPS yesterday confirmed that he was charged on Friday after consultations with Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Sabrina Dougdeen, and is expected to appear virtually in the South Criminal High Court.
Wilson and Nicholas were in a relationship, but relatives claimed she ended it some time ago. The release stated that around 10 pm on August 13, Wilson and a male companion were driving south along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near Debe when another driver collided with their vehicle.
Following the collision, police said an argument ensued on the highway, during which the driver of the other vehicle assaulted Wilson with a spanner. Fearing for their lives, Wilson and her male friend attempted to flee on foot, but the driver of the other vehicle drove after them, running over Wilson.
An autopsy revealed that she died from multiple blunt-force trauma injuries. Relatives had denied that Wilson and her male companion were in an intimate relationship. They said the man came from Jamaica to surprise her for her birthday.
Wilson’s birthday was on August 10.
Meanwhile, Wilson’s funeral arrangements were still being finalised yesterday.
