Man shoots relative during argument over property

One man has been ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the shoot­ing of a rel­a­tive dur­ing an ar­gu­ment.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, two male rel­a­tives got in­to an ar­gu­ment over prop­er­ty around 1 am on Sat­ur­day at their Princes Town home. Dur­ing the ar­gu­ment, the younger of the two al­leged­ly pulled a gun and fired one shot, hit­ting the oth­er man in his head.

The in­jured man, 35, was sub­se­quent­ly tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he was treat­ed and dis­charged.

Of­fices at­tached to the Bar­rack­pore Po­lice Sta­tion vis­it­ed the scene and the sus­pect was ar­rest­ed for ques­tion­ing.

TT Rideshare dri­ver robbed

A TT Rideshare dri­ver was robbed while at­tempt­ing to pick up a pas­sen­ger in St Ann’s.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, at around 10.20 pm on Sat­ur­day, the 41-year-old dri­ver, of Mor­vant, re­ceived a re­quest via the Rideshare App to pick up a pas­sen­ger at Fondes Aman­des Road.

How­ev­er, when the dri­ver ar­rived at the lo­ca­tion, he was ap­proached by two male sus­pects, one of whom was armed with a firearm.

The sus­pects an­nounced a rob­bery, tied up the dri­ver and took him to an area in La Sei­va, Mar­aval.

How­ev­er, he was able to free him­self and walked to the St Clair Po­lice Sta­tion.

The sus­pects got away with his brown Suzu­ki Er­ti­ga, Sam­sung cell­phone, wal­let and $300 he had in his pos­ses­sion.

The sus­pects are both said to be of African de­scent, brown in com­plex­ion and were wear­ing black t-shirts.

2 home­less af­ter house fire

A San Fer­nan­do cou­ple has now been dis­placed af­ter a fire gut­ted their home on Fri­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, around 11.55 pm, res­i­dents of Win­ston Ma­habir Street, Pleas­antville, San Fer­nan­do, raised an alarm af­ter notic­ing one of their neigh­bour’s home, a wood­en and con­crete struc­ture, was on fire.

Neigh­bours con­tact­ed 40-year-old home­own­er John Hug­gins, who was not home at the time, to in­form him that his home was on fire.

His 37-year-old com­mon-law wife Danielle Nor­ton was said to be at home.

Of­fi­cers at­tached to the Mon Re­pos Fire De­part­ment re­spond­ed and ex­tin­guished the blaze.

The house is said to be val­ued at $150,000.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Fire Ser­vice (TTFS) is in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
