One man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a relative during an argument.
According to police reports, two male relatives got into an argument over property around 1 am on Saturday at their Princes Town home. During the argument, the younger of the two allegedly pulled a gun and fired one shot, hitting the other man in his head.
The injured man, 35, was subsequently taken to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.
Offices attached to the Barrackpore Police Station visited the scene and the suspect was arrested for questioning.
TT Rideshare driver robbed
A TT Rideshare driver was robbed while attempting to pick up a passenger in St Ann’s.
According to police reports, at around 10.20 pm on Saturday, the 41-year-old driver, of Morvant, received a request via the Rideshare App to pick up a passenger at Fondes Amandes Road.
However, when the driver arrived at the location, he was approached by two male suspects, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
The suspects announced a robbery, tied up the driver and took him to an area in La Seiva, Maraval.
However, he was able to free himself and walked to the St Clair Police Station.
The suspects got away with his brown Suzuki Ertiga, Samsung cellphone, wallet and $300 he had in his possession.
The suspects are both said to be of African descent, brown in complexion and were wearing black t-shirts.
2 homeless after house fire
A San Fernando couple has now been displaced after a fire gutted their home on Friday night.
According to a police report, around 11.55 pm, residents of Winston Mahabir Street, Pleasantville, San Fernando, raised an alarm after noticing one of their neighbour’s home, a wooden and concrete structure, was on fire.
Neighbours contacted 40-year-old homeowner John Huggins, who was not home at the time, to inform him that his home was on fire.
His 37-year-old common-law wife Danielle Norton was said to be at home.
Officers attached to the Mon Repos Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze.
The house is said to be valued at $150,000.
The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service (TTFS) is investigating.
