A man was fatally shot outside an apartment in Chase Village, Chaguanas, on Saturday night.
Around 8.30 pm, Dennis Morgan, 58, was speaking with a Venezuelan woman outside his apartment on Hosein Drive when a gunman walked into the yard and shot him three times. Morgan died at the scene.
The woman, who was not hurt in the incident, was reported to be shaken and not doing well.
Another Venezuelan migrant, who did not want to be identified, said Morgan had visited earlier in the evening to drop something and then returned around 8 pm.
“I don’t know the man (Morgan). He is a supervisor at a construction site in Sangre Grande, that’s all we know because my friend and she brother does work for the man. We don’t know where he live but this is frightening,” she said.
Another Venezuelan man, a tenant of the apartment building, said the incident had left him and his family very traumatised.
“I was upstairs and then I hear pax, pax, pax. I thought it was firecracker but when I check the man, the man dead right there in the yard next to my wife’s van,” he said.
“This have everybody frightened because we don’t know who and I don’t feel safe in Trinidad anymore and I does come home late from work almost every night.”
Investigations into the shooting are continuing.
