Another Venezuelan man, a tenant of the apartment building, said the incident had left him and his family very traumatised.

“I was upstairs and then I hear pax, pax, pax. I thought it was firecracker but when I check the man, the man dead right there in the yard next to my wife’s van,” he said.

“This have everybody frightened because we don’t know who and I don’t feel safe in Trinidad anymore and I does come home late from work almost every night.”

Investigations into the shooting are continuing.
