over land
dispute
A 38-year-old man was shot in the right hand and foot, allegedly over the sale of land.
According to a police report, the victim told police he was having a conversation with his neighbours near his home about the sale of land in the area when he was approached by a man from the community who told him to leave.
The incident happened at about 2.30 pm on Wednesday.
The suspect then allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim several times.
The suspect then ran away.
The police were notified and the victim was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he was treated and warded in a stable condition.
Sgt Scipio, Sgt Leon, PC Gualbance, WPC Kheerai, and other officers visited the scene.
Police recovered seven spent 9mm shells at the scene.

Transit Police Unit
An investigations has been launched into the discovery of over 100 rounds of assorted ammunition found on the compound of the Transit Police Unit located at VMCOTT, off Beetham Highway, Beetham.
Police said the ammunition was found in an underground storage tank at about 10.30 am on Wednesday by a plumbing supervisor, assigned to the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Police said the supervisor told them he was doing routine checks and works on a valve to the tank when he saw a black bag.
He removed the bag and opened it to check it out and saw several rounds of ammunition, which he said were all water soaked and covered in dirt.
The supervisor notified the police at the station and officers led by Sgt Thomas, Sgt Ramsingh and others responded.
Police said in the bag, they found 40 rounds of 9 mm ammunition; 60 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition; two red cylindrical objects resembling shot gun cartridges and one warped object, believed to be another round of 5.56mm ammunition.
The items were taken to the Morvant Police Station.
No one was arrested but investigations are ongoing.
Stolen pirogue
recovered in Sea Lots
A pirogue which was reported missing has been recovered by police officers during an anti-crime exercise held in Sea Lots.
A report said on Tuesday around 8.30 pm, the victim secured his vessel at the Carenage Fishing Depot.
Upon his return the following day, he noticed his vessel missing. A report was made to the Carenage Police station.
Based on information received, officers of the Carenage Police station, CID, Western Division Task Force and members of the Coast Guard went to Sea Lots.
They recovered the stolen vessel which was then conveyed to Staubles Bay, Chaguaramas for processing.
The exercise was conducted during the hours of 11.30pm and 4.15 am on Wednesday under the supervision of Senior Supt Kelvern Thompson and co-ordinated by Insp Grant.
