A 27-year-old man from Mar­aval is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear vir­tu­al­ly at the South Crim­i­nal High Court on Mon­day 19 Au­gust 2024, af­ter he to an­swer to the charge of mur­der.

The Po­lice Ser­vice has con­firmed that Tre­vist Nicholas was charged with the mur­der of Keifer Wil­son, which oc­curred on Au­gust 13, 2024.

The mur­der charge was laid on Fri­day (Au­gust 16, 2024), fol­low­ing con­sul­ta­tions held with Deputy Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Mrs S. Jaglal.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, around 10 pm on Tues­day 13 Au­gust 2024, Keifer Wil­son and a male com­pan­ion were dri­ving south along the Sir Solomon Ho­choy High­way near Debe, when an­oth­er dri­ver col­lid­ed with their ve­hi­cle.

Fol­low­ing the col­li­sion, an ar­gu­ment en­sued on the high­way, dur­ing which time the dri­ver of the oth­er ve­hi­cle as­sault­ed Wil­son with a span­ner.

Fear­ing for their lives, Wil­son and her male friend at­tempt­ed to flee on foot, but the dri­ver of the oth­er ve­hi­cle drove af­ter them, ul­ti­mate­ly run­ning over Wil­son.

The Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer lat­er ar­rived and pro­nounced Wil­son dead at the scene, and a post-mortem ex­am­i­na­tion was or­dered.

The as­sailant was lat­er ap­pre­hend­ed by High­way Pa­trol and Emer­gency Re­sponse Pa­trol (ERP) of­fi­cers.
