A 27-year-old man from Maraval is expected to appear virtually at the South Criminal High Court on Monday 19 August 2024, after he to answer to the charge of murder.
The Police Service has confirmed that Trevist Nicholas was charged with the murder of Keifer Wilson, which occurred on August 13, 2024.
The murder charge was laid on Friday (August 16, 2024), following consultations held with Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs S. Jaglal.
According to police reports, around 10 pm on Tuesday 13 August 2024, Keifer Wilson and a male companion were driving south along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near Debe, when another driver collided with their vehicle.
Following the collision, an argument ensued on the highway, during which time the driver of the other vehicle assaulted Wilson with a spanner.
Fearing for their lives, Wilson and her male friend attempted to flee on foot, but the driver of the other vehicle drove after them, ultimately running over Wilson.
The District Medical Officer later arrived and pronounced Wilson dead at the scene, and a post-mortem examination was ordered.
The assailant was later apprehended by Highway Patrol and Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) officers.
