Prince Charles, a teen boxer, was murdered in Sangre Grande.

A 56-year-old man ap­peared be­fore a Mas­ter of the High Court, charged with the mur­der of 19-year-old Prince Charles, which oc­curred dur­ing Car­ni­val Tues­day cel­e­bra­tions.

Po­lice said Shane Pur­cell, an au­to-me­chan­ic of San­gre Grande, was charged with the of­fence when he ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter Liebert in the High Court North ‘B’, on Tues­day.

The next hear­ing date has been set for June 25.

Charles, 19, a stu­dent of the San­gre Grande Sec­ondary School and a na­tion­al youth box­er was fa­tal­ly stabbed by an as­sailant on March 4 along the East­ern Main Road, San­gre Grande.

One male sus­pect was ar­rest­ed short­ly af­ter the in­ci­dent by of­fi­cers of the San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by ASP (Ag) Vic­tor, W/In­sp Sylvester and In­sp (Ag) Si­mon, all of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI), Re­gion Two.

Pur­cell was charged with the of­fence by PC Har­dath, al­so of HBI Re­gion Two, fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Roger Gas­pard SC, on March 10.
