One man was killed while his stepson remained hospitalised following a drive-by shooting in Morvant yesterday.
Police said Keston Baldwin, 35, died metres away from the front door of his house at Romain Lands.
Rahim Greaves, 24, was hospitalised in a critical condition up to last night.
Residents reported to the police that around 10.30 am yesterday, Baldwin and a 37-year-old man had been getting ready to leave their area to go to Belmont Valley Road to pick avocados when a silver Toyota Axio stopped and four men dressed in female Muslim clothing emerged.
The men then began shooting at the two.
Baldwin was stuck several times and collapsed face down on the road. He died at the scene.
Greaves, who had been standing on the road talking to the two, was also shot several times.
He was seen running down the road bleeding from several gunshot wounds, begging residents for help.
Greaves as later assisted by a man who lives close by, who placed him in his private vehicle and took him to hospital.
The 37-year-old man was not injured during the incident.
When Guardian Media visited the area around noon, residents declined to speak about the incident.
One man only confirmed, “Is real corn pass… it was like fireworks.”
Senior law enforcement officials have said while they are eager to solve these and other killings, they are being frustrated in their attempts to get information from witnesses and onlookers who all offer the same refrain—that they are scared to speak and do not wish to endanger themselves and families by engaging with officers.
An elderly woman who stood peeking from behind her gate, said, “We living here and you don’t know who they will come back for. When alyuh gone, is we have to face them.”
