Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan has assured that everything is on schedule for the Jean De La Valette (JDLV) to set sail this week.
Minister Sinanan is on the record as saying the vessel would be setting sail on “the weekend of July 15”.
In a brief telephone interview with Guardian Media Tuesday, Sinanan assured that the necessary preparations are being made for the sailing to occur but could not give an exact date.
“Everything is in place for the vessel to set sail on the week of the 15th. The week of the 15th is really Sunday to Saturday. The boat will start to operate sometime this week,” he said.
He, however, directed Guardian Media to visit the Inter-Island Transportation Corporation's sailing schedule for July for more information.
But, despite being earmarked for sailing this week, the ferry service's schedule did not reflect this.

The July schedule only shows the other three vessels - the T&T Spirit, the Cabo Star and Galleons Passage - would be making the trips.
The JDLV is, however, displayed in their August sailing schedule posted to their Facebook page.
The JDLV vessel is the newest addition to the Inter-Island Transportation Corporation's fleet to traverse between Trinidad and Tobago.
It docked in Trinidad almost one month ago on June 19.
The vessel, which is being leased at 34,500 Euros or TT$263,580 per day, was sourced from Malta and leased from Virtu Ferries, whose managing director Francis Portelli of the parent company Virtu Holdings had been named in a huge oil scandal in Malta, involving allegations of money laundering and bribery.
