Ashley Furniture HomeStore on Sunday invited six deserving NGO’s to their Xtra Plaza location to each receive a cheque valued at $27,000.
The event entitled “Brunch at Ashley” saw representatives from each NGO arriving at different time intervals between 11 pm and 1 pm to accommodate all under the COVID-19 guidelines.
A release said The event marked the culmination of the Ashley Furniture HomeStore Hi5 for Charity Programme.
The statement said Hi5 for Charity is a cause marketing programme developed by Ashley’s local franchisee, Unicomer (Trinidad) Ltd, where during October five per cent of sales is donated to selected NGO’s.
The programme runs collaboratively with Ashley Couch Conversations, whereby six powerful women engaged in a talk-show style social media video series on Ashley Furniture HomeStore Trinidad Facebook and IGTV platform.
In 2019, the programme received the prestigious Ashley International Chairman’s award after being selected as the most outstanding initiative from among 58 countries worldwide.
Season 3 was held earlier this year.
This year the NGOs that benefitted from the Hi5 for charity programme are:
· Girl Guides Association of Trinidad and Tobago
· Wishing for Wings
· Kids in Need of Direction (KIND)
· Swaha Vishok Bhavan Children’s Home
· Machel Montano Foundation for Greatness (MMFG)
· Animal Welfare Network
Elizabeth Lady Montano, founder of the Machel Montano Foundation for Greatness, spoke highly about the Hi5 programme.
She said, “This programme was such a great idea to get out my message and receive such a great contribution to our foundation. I received feedback that my video touched a lot of people as well as motivated quite a number of people to go shop at Ashley.”
Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Unicomer (Trinidad) Ltd has thanked all the women who have participated in the Couch Conversations over the last three years and commend all the charities that have been part of the programme.
