Today marks eight days since businessman Shashi Anand Rampersad was grabbed by kidnappers, and there has been no word from his abductors regarding his release.
While both relatives and police remained tight-lipped regarding the ongoing search yesterday, Guardian Media confirmed a ransom call was received on the day that Rampersad was kidnapped.
However, there has been no word yet, or proof of life.
And while several people were questioned in relation to the kidnapping, no one has been detained or arrested to date.
The 36 year old of Lange Park, Chaguanas, is the owner of Jit’s Stock Pile, Southern Main Road, Chaguanas.
He was kidnapped from Pierre Street, Lendore Village, Enterprise, around 1.45 pm on November 21.
He was delivering a load of sand for a customer when he was forced into a silver Versa at gunpoint by two masked men.
When Rampersad was snatched, his FUSO Canter truck had been idling in the open yard of a resident, with the keys in the ignition and his cellphone inside.
