To­day marks eight days since busi­ness­man Shashi Anand Ram­per­sad was grabbed by kid­nap­pers, and there has been no word from his ab­duc­tors re­gard­ing his re­lease.

While both rel­a­tives and po­lice re­mained tight-lipped re­gard­ing the on­go­ing search yes­ter­day, Guardian Me­dia con­firmed a ran­som call was re­ceived on the day that Ram­per­sad was kid­napped.

How­ev­er, there has been no word yet, or proof of life.

And while sev­er­al peo­ple were ques­tioned in re­la­tion to the kid­nap­ping, no one has been de­tained or ar­rest­ed to date.

The 36 year old of Lange Park, Ch­agua­nas, is the own­er of Jit’s Stock Pile, South­ern Main Road, Ch­agua­nas.

He was kid­napped from Pierre Street, Lendore Vil­lage, En­ter­prise, around 1.45 pm on No­vem­ber 21.

He was de­liv­er­ing a load of sand for a cus­tomer when he was forced in­to a sil­ver Ver­sa at gun­point by two masked men.

When Ram­per­sad was snatched, his FU­SO Can­ter truck had been idling in the open yard of a res­i­dent, with the keys in the ig­ni­tion and his cell­phone in­side.
